It’s the middle of the week, and we all need to take it down a notch. Make som distance between us and the stress, I know I need that at least. Then there is no better artist to put on in your headset than vhsgus! The chill vibes from this lo-fi artist will definitely help you get in the mood for relaxation. What is your musical background? How did you get into music?

Grew up playing piano, guitar, and alto saxophone. Was the lead singer to bands in high school and college. At the age of 29, vhsgus took production seriously and started out creating lo-fi chillhop instrumentals that gradually evolved into a collaboration among friends and artists. vhsgus produced instrumentals and vocal tracks. In 2023, vhsgus will be debuting his first vocal LP.

What are your biggest influences?

My biggest influences are John Mayer, Michelle Branch, Daft Punk.

How do you define success as an artist?

I define success when I see people singing my song or using them in their own lives whether it’s a Tiktok or reel or on YouTube.

What are your ultimate career goals?

My biggest career goal as an artist is to land TV and Movie Licensing syncs for my songs. Whether it is an instrumental track or one of my vocal tracks.

What are you working on at the moment?

Currently, I am wrapping up the final touches for my first lo-fi chillhop EP "Rosy Retrospection" which will feature my friends from New Orleans on guitar as well as a collaboration with an artist called Radiocosmo for the lead track "Rosy Retrospection". The EP will be released 11.11.22. I am also finishing up my vocal LP which will be released on 04.21.23.

There's really no better feeling for an artist than when people use their work in their daily life.
