Sit down with Rising Star recording artist Tommy Francisco

We are officially mid-week again, which means our energy levels are running low, our minds drift off to getting home from work or school and dive deep into that soft couch where we'll stay until the TV turns itself off and we have to get up for the remote. Well, fear not, 24CS is here to mend us all with a new interview! We wanted to get a little better known with Tommy Francisco and his latest album. Without further ado, lets get to it!

Where are you from, and what inspired you to get into music?

I was born and raised in Austin Texas. I was introduced to a lot of music at an early age. I began singing very young but didn't know that I would do it professionally until about 3 or 4 years ago.

Who are some of your musical inspirations?

I would say quite a few. I am inspired by so many different artists in all genres. From legends like Stevie Wonder, Bob Marley, Michael McDonald, Marvin Gaye, Lionel Richie to Afrobeats artists like Wizkid, BurnaBoy and Davido.

What's the role of an artist in society today?

I believe that an artist is supposed to inspire, educate, entertain, and make people feel. I try to create songs that are easy to understand and relatable to the everyday person.

Why did you name your new project "Odyssey»?

I named this project Odyssey because it takes you on a journey. I talk about a lot of things that I’ve been through in my personal life, both good and bad. I believe love is a journey that we all go on. We can only hope that the highs outweigh the lows.

How would you describe the sound of your music?

You can expect a variety of different vibes from R&B to Afrobeats, Pop/Soul and even HipHop. I’m inspired by so many artists, and this project really shows just that. Every song was written by myself and my manager Stephan Flanagan. Definitely have to give him credit for his songwriting, producing, and even engineering.

What message do you want people to get from your project "Odyssey»?

I wouldn’t say I’m trying to deliver a message. I just want to bring some joy and peace through my music. I feel like the world is very numb and different today. I hope that my music can just allow people to feel again.

What are your ultimate career goals?

I am wanting to continue to grow as a complete artist. I would like to one day tour around the world, and of course achieve the accolades as far as awards. I typically live day to day and really focus on getting better each day.

Lastly, what advice do you have for singers trying to break into the industry?

I would say, believe in God and yourself. Work hard and understand that it's a marathon. You will go through ups and downs, but don't lose your love for what it is you do.

Couldn't have said it better myself, Tommy! A marathon, not a sprint. Thank you very much for bein on 24 Carat Sounds! We wish you all the best in all your future musical endeavors, and hope to see you back soon!
