Exclusive interview with multi-genre producer Chriss Doss
Updated: Aug 26
The week is coming to an end, and the weekend is sneaking up like a cougar on a gazelle. There is not enough time in the day to cover everything that is going on out there in the music world, but 24 Carat Sounds will be contributing with some great interviews and reviews to help with the never-ending wave of great music. Today we have Chris Doss in the spotlight, a multi genre producer that gave an exclusive interview with us! Without further ado, let’s get to it.
What is your musical background? How did you get into music?
I started playing guitar when I was 15. My friend Dan had started a band and they were… not the best. I had been into music my whole life but never had the urge to play until the moment I heard them play. I had played around on his guitar, but he was left-handed and that wasn’t the most conducive to me being right-handed. I eventually got a guitar and practice amp and hit the ground running. From there I eventually started writing more, then began singing in bands. However, I always preferred guitar.
What are your biggest motivations?
My main motivations for music are just the artistic release. I like creating. Taking something from your mind and translating it into a medium other people can understand and interpret their own way.
What's the role of an artist in society?
I believe the role of any artist is to create art that evokes emotions. Whether it be making people feel like they’re on top of the world, or perhaps that they’re not alone in it.
How do you go about your daily work?
Whenever I have a session, I just ask what the artist or my co-writer is feeling like working on. Then we either choose a song start I already have, or we create from scratch.
What are your ultimate career goals?
Ultimate career goals are really just to be able to support my family and myself while doing what I love. A few Grammys wouldn’t be too bad either.
Tell me how you have been developing your music this far
I try to listen to as much new music as possible to study what is being done. And then the internet is an obvious wealth of knowledge I wade into from time to time.
Where are you from and how does that affect your work?
I’m from Los Angeles. Being out here gives me more opportunities to work with great artists and writers as they tend to congregate out here from all over the world.
What are you working on at the moment?
I’m currently working on two artist projects as well as writes for potential placements.
We hope the project goes well, and thank you very much for being on 24 Carat Sounds. Best of luck in all your future musical endeavours, and hope to see you back soon!
